New street station stabbing amid 'reports of violent disorder involving teens'

boy was treated for a stab injury at the scene. His injuries were not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. Article continues below No arrests had been made and police inquiries


were ongoing. In a statement, police said: "Detectives investigating a stabbing at Birmingham New Street railway station yesterday are appealing for witnesses to come forward.


"Officers were called to Birmingham New Street railway station at around 8pm yesterday following reports of violent disorder in the station involving several teenagers. "Paramedics


also attended and a teenage boy was treated at the scene for an injury consistent with being stabbed. "He was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing or


life-threatening. No arrests have been made in connection at this time." Det Insp Connor Towes said: “There is absolutely no place for violence on the railway network, and detectives


are working at pace to investigate this incident. "Passengers will see an increased police presence at the station while officers carry out their enquiries. “We know the station was


busy at the time of the incident and many people may have seen what happened or the events leading up to it, so we are urging anyone with information to get in touch and assist us with our


enquiries.” Anyone who witnessed the incident or had information was asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 614 of May 19.
