can claim this month on TOP of regular payments have been revealed. Nine freebies and discounts state pensioners are set to be handed in June by the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP )
have been revealed. Among them is Pension Credit. Sarah Pennells, consumer finance specialist at Royal London, explains: “People can apply for Pension Credit any time, and it could be worth
over £4,000 a year. Our research shows that many people are missing out because they haven’t checked to see if they qualify. “Three in ten people over State Pension age who were on a low
income hadn’t checked to see if they were entitled to Pension Credit, while one in ten pensioners who had been told they qualified for Pension Credit have yet to apply. READ MORE SMART

payments. Not only that, but, if you’re entitled to Pension Credit, you’ll be able to get extra help with costs such as rent and Council Tax, which could make a big difference.” PENSION
CREDIT You must live in England, Scotland or Wales and have reached State Pension age to qualify for Pension Credit, which is worth £4,300 a year. If you’re from the EU, Switzerland, Norway,
Iceland or Liechtenstein, you and your family usually also need settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme to get Pension Credit. Article continues below The deadline to
apply to the scheme was 30 June 2021 for most people, but you might still be able to apply. When you apply for Pension Credit your income is calculated. If you have a partner, your income is
calculated together. Pension Credit tops up your weekly income to £227.10 if you’re single OR your joint weekly income to £346.60 if you have a partner. If your income is higher, you might
still be eligible for Pension Credit if you have a disability, you care for someone, you have savings or you have housing costs. COUNCIL TAX HELP Council Tax Support is a benefit to help low
earners pay their council tax. You may be able to get a reduction to the amount you have to pay. Anyone can make a claim, whether they're a property owner or renter. Contact your
council for help or if you're not sure if you're eligible. Visit: gov.uk/apply-council-tax-reduction to find your local council. DISABILITY AND CARE BENEFITS You may get Attendance
Allowance if you are State Pension age or over - and have needed help with personal care because of a physical or mental disability for six months. Your disability must be severe enough for
you to need either: * help with things such as washing (and getting in or out of the bath or shower), dressing, eating, getting to and using the toilet, or communicating your needs *
supervision to avoid putting yourself or others in a lot of danger, for example, needing someone to keep an eye on your medical condition or diet * someone with you when you are on dialysis
You can get Attendance Allowance even if no one is actually giving you the care you need and even if you live alone. TRAVEL CONCESSIONS In England you can get a bus pass for free travel when
you reach the State Pension age. If you live in London, you can travel free on buses, tubes and other transport when you're 60, but only within London. In Wales you can get a bus pass
when you reach 60. Enter your postcode toapply for a bus pass from your local council or check if you can get one sooner. BBC TV LICENCE The BBC licence fee will return to rising in line
with the annual rate of inflation again for the first time in three years this year, as the government also said it will review alternate funding models as part of an “honest” conversation
about the long-term future of the corporation. The culture secretary, Lisa Nandy, said that from April next year the cost of an annual BBC licence fee will rise by £5 to £174.50, in line
with the average consumer price index (CPI) measure of inflation of 2.96% between October 2023 and September 2024. Anyone aged over 75 and receiving Pension Credit is eligible for a free TV
Licence, paid for by the BBC. If you're over 75 and not in receipt of Pension Credit you have to pay for a TV licence. If you are over 75, you can check if you can get a free TV
Licence. FREE PASSPORT British nationals born on or before 2 September 1929 are eligible for a free British passport. This concessionary passport is offered as a way to acknowledge the
contributions of this generation. While the passport itself is free, any additional services like urgent passport processing would still require payment. WAR WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS If your
spouse or civil partner has died or been injured whilst serving in the armed forces prior to April 6, 2005 you could be entitled to a War Widow's or Widower's Pension. Contact the
