maintaining good tag and release action for striped marlin off the shelf.  Good mahi mahi (dolphin fish) remain at the FAD and some great catches are reported.

shows a calamari squid taken off the Merimbula Fishing Platform. Numbers of morwong and snapper are reported off the more northern reefs including Long Point and Haycock.  They are also on

the chew further to the south at Lennards Island, North Head and Mowarry.  Chinamen leatherjackets can be a problem.

Kingfish remain patchy at Mowarry as well as off Tura Headland and Long Point.  Bonito have arrived off Long Point and in past Yellow Rock.  Bonito are easily taken casting with small silver

lures and by trolling.  Ocean flathead remain on the chew further north at White Rock and north-east off Baronda Head at 13-15 fathoms.   

Good salmon and tailor are shoaling off the beaches from near Bournda Island.  Try also Tura Beach, Middle Beach, Haycock and Aslings beaches.   Best time is evening on a rising tide.  Try

salted pilchards or 30-50gm silver spinners.

Calamari squid continue to grace the local wharfs at Tathra and Merimbula.  The new lights at the Merimbula Fishing Platform wharf are a great calamari attractor.

Luderick are still around and respond to artificial lures.  After dark some good catches of slimy mackerel have been reported.  Use small hooks and squid bait.

There are lots of anchovie bait fish in the Merimbula Lake with tailor providing anglers excellent sport.  All you need is a silver spinner.  Trevally remain plentiful at Merimbula both in

the top lake and downstream past the bridge, try soft plastics.   

The estuaries continue to fish well with lovely blue lipped bream, tailor, mullet, trevally and lots of breeding snapper all on the chew.  Try Pambula Broadwater for dusky flathead and the

entrance for Salmon.

Local anglers are preparing for the Tri Club “Grudge Match” (Merimbula, Pambula and Eden Clubs) scheduled for May 4-6 and hosted by Pambula.  This is a popular event and can be a good warm

up for the annual Merimbula Snapper Classic to be held later on May 26-27. 

The Club is open every Friday evening commencing 6.30pm.  Visitors are very welcome.  Come and enjoy the fishing report, the ambience, friendship and lovely views with very competitive bar
