This report provides a research-based overview into the various shifts and changes many people experience as they age. It delves into 10 life transitions for adults ages 50-plus related to

caregiving, job transitions, menopause, romantic relationships, home life, retirement, enrolling in Medicare, claiming Social Security, grandparenting, and age-related health and wellness.

Each section highlights the unique challenges and milestones that aging adults encounter with an exploration of the pivotal transitional phases. We hope this research will serve as a thought

starter for businesses, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to inform decisions and develop strategies that better support the aging population. By understanding the challenges

and transitions highlighted in the report, readers can use this information to influence products, services, interventions and resources to improve the quality of life for older adults.

Additionally, individuals and families can use these insights to prepare for and navigate their own life transitions more effectively. While the report does not cover the myriad of life

transitions older adults face, it provides a foundational understanding of common and impactful stages, encouraging further exploration and support for the diverse experiences of aging

adults. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS The Life Transition Reports series were collaboratively prepared by AARP Research, PRI issue experts, and the AARP Library. If you have any questions, please contact
