ABOUT Kim Sedmak serves as the senior policy outreach director for Policy, Research and International (PRI) Affairs. She is responsible for devising communications strategy, building
external partnerships, promoting issue expertise and using the art of storytelling to ‘lift policy off the page.’ In this role, she provides vision and strategy for how PRI engages with
partners and stakeholders advising senior leaders across PRI on how best to leverage both internal and external opportunities to market PRI. This involves promoting new data, research,
analytics and issue expertise highlighting cutting-edge insights and information on aging in the U.S. and abroad. As part of this position, Kim also develops and manages outreach for AARP’s
Public Policy Institute (PPI). She also produces and developed the award-winning _AARP Policy Now_ video series showcasing PPI marquee reports and issue experts. She served as the
Encore Innovation Fellow to the 2015 White House Conference on Aging with expertise in healthy aging and elder justice. During this year-long effort, Kim traveled throughout the country
producing issue-oriented panels, live streamed events, and convening the nation’s leading experts on aging to examine how Americans as a society are dealing with this life stage.
Prior to this position, Kim made her career as an award-winning television producer and writer. Her credits include producing NBC’s _TODAY_ series _Your Life Calling: Life Reimagined_ with
Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist Jane Pauley. The monthly segment aired 4 years on _TODAY_ and featured those 50+ who reinvented/ reimagined their lives in new and powerful ways. The
series received more than a dozen national awards and culminated in Jane Pauley’s New York Times best-seller, _Your Life Calling: Reimagine the Rest of Your Life._ Kim holds a B.A. in
communications and political science from DePauw University and an M.A. in journalism and public affairs from American University. She began her career as a daily local newspaper reporter in
