Hurricane Ian was one of the deadliest and costliest Category 4 storms in U.S. history in 2022 and devastated many Floridian seniors with low income who continue to grapple with the

long-term impacts including an exacerbated housing crisis and challenging economic conditions. In Puerto Rico, Hurricane Fiona caused widespread and weeks-long power outages, left

communities underwater, and destroyed bridges and roadways.  Recognizing the challenges that vulnerable older adults faced because of this disaster, AARP Foundation created a relief fund to

support the victims of Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Fion in 2022. Thanks to donors and matching funds from AARP and AARP Foundation, $1.1 MILLION IN EMERGENCY GRANTS HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED.

Through the work of these organizations below, donation helped those affected to repair their homes, access legal advocacy, and obtain financial support:  * Senior Friendship Centers

(Florida) * Lee County Legal Aid Society (Florida) * Legal Aid Service of Collier County (Florida) * St. Bernard Project (Florida and Puerto Rico) * Ponce Neighborhood Housing Services

(Puerto Rico) * Fundación Fondo de Acceso a la Justicia (Puerto Rico)
