Three teenage girls were seriously injured Tuesday after they were struck by an out-of-control pickup truck that crashed into a covered bus bench where they were sitting, a spokesman for the
Los Angeles Fire Department said. The truck skidded before slamming into the bench in the 4500 block of Wilshire Boulevard, authorities said. Each of the girls suffered a fractured leg in
the 7:55 a.m. accident, officials said. The driver, identified only as a man in his 40s or 50s, was not hurt, they said. No one else was riding in the truck. All three girls remained
hospitalized in serious but stable condition Tuesday, officials said. They added that it was unclear whether the girls, ages 16-18, knew each other. Authorities were investigating whether
spilled diesel fuel on the road caused the vehicle to skid out of control. MORE TO READ
