During the next 24 hours, the humidity will rise again, according to the Met Office. It will be fairly damp in the northwest, but the southeast with the heat building will turn thundery by

the end end of Friday. Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: “Temperatures in the south will mean a return to uncomfortable nights of sleeping with mid to high teens being as low as

it gets. “A bright start to the day for much of England and Wales with plenty of sunny spells. “Further north and west though, we’ve got the rain spreading itself southeastwards and decaying

into patchy rain.” Southern Scotland, northern England and to parts of Wales will be hit with showers by the end of the afternoon. Mr McGivern added: “Ahead of the rain, that’s when that

heat really builds. “Heat will set off thunderstorms for Friday evening rush hour. “A yellow warning is in force because it will make for tricky driving conditions.” There will be 30mm of

rain an hour falling and the major downpour, along with dry ground, could cause spray and flash flooding. The meteorologist said more widespread showers across England and Wales will bring

“useful rain” which will water gardens and farms as the weekend begins. But much of that does clear away by Saturday morning. There will be lingering cloud across eastern Scotland into

England, Wales and the southwest with some spots of rainfall. Mr McGivern concluded: “But sunshine starts to break through by Saturday afternoon. “Temperatures will rise again, particularly

in the southeast. “Further thunderstorms could be set off as temperatures reach 30c. “Plenty more sunshine in the southeast on Sunday but a bit more changeable in the northwest.”
