Bangalore gets its first ever moonlight space, which will promote art, culture, entertainment and lifestyle Bangalore’s got a brand new space for its culture vultures. The Moonlight Theatre
in Palace Grounds opens tomorrow (October 26). Santosh Kumar, actor and founder, CMD, Moonlight Theatre, says, “This is a community concept, which is big in the United States. In cities like
Los Angeles, these are big draws. I’m attempting to bring it to India for the first time.” The launch day will open with this season’s biggest ever release _Ra.One_. There will also be an
art exhibition by Pratima Mulani, handicrafts from NGOs and special schools and a fashion show by Ramesh Dembla. “This will be a platform for four things, art, theatre, movies and music. We
will intersperse this with lifestyle. This will be happen every fortnight,” says Santosh. This opening weekend will also feature stuff like a Halloween-themed night, where the horror
blockbuster The Ring will be screened as will be Avatar. “We have four different seating styles. We have beds with blankets, beanbags, couple love cushions and massage chairs. The tickets
are priced from Rs300 upwards,” says Santosh, who says the art exhibitions and stall areas allow free entry. “There will be no permanent structure. But, the space is permanent. We will have
huge beach umbrellas under the seats at the movie screenings, to prevent the rain from being spoilsport,” says Santosh, who has some really big plans in the coming months with respect to
promoting this space. “There will be a big performance space. One of our upcoming performances will have 100 Yakshagana dances, 100 Mohiniattam dancers and 100 sitar players. The seating
will be for 3,000 people at this event and it will be like a fine dining arrangement,” says Santosh, who adds quickly, “This will be a strictly family area, so we won’t be serving alcohol
here.” Moonlight Theatre opens tomorrow and is on till Sunday, with art, handicrafts and movies to offer Bangaloreans as part of its opening weekend.
