Images) Baking Brits have been warned they will be besieged by bugs if they open their windows. A Met Office forecast for warm temperatures and rainfall will create the perfect storm for

insect explosions.

Experts at My Home Improvements fear millions of critters will become active in such conditions.

‌ And they said that an open window will be like an invitation to crawl in to people’s houses while you sleep.

‌ A spokesperson said: “With the weather turning both warm and wet, insects are becoming more active, and open windows at night create an easy entry point.

“We always recommend using window screens or restrictors during spring to keep unwanted pests out — especially when lights are on and you’re fast asleep.”

Among the increased insects on the prowl this summer are spiders, moths, mosquitoes and midges. Spiders seek out dark corners, bedding, or under furniture.

Article continues below Meanwhile, moths are attracted to lights and lamps or settle into clothes, bedding or on your pillow.

Warm air and standing water from spring showers are all it takes to bring out the mozzies and midges.

The biting bugs buzz relentlessly and leave behind itchy bites.

Article continues below They’re most active during the humid nights the Met Office has warned of this week, making unprotected windows a major risk.

The My Home Improvements spokesperson added: “We understand people want to keep cool during spring and summer nights.

“But with the current mix of humidity and rainfall, there’s no question — bugs are on the move. If you’re sleeping with your window wide open, you’re also sleeping with your guard down.”
