THE BUDGET SUPERMARKET HAS SHARED ITS EXPANSION PLANS AND LONG-TERM GOAL FOR 2025. 12:37, 29 May 2025 Aldi is upping its expansion plans this year across Britain. Not only will the

supermarket open up new stores, 30 across the UK will be receiving a bit of an upgrade. Among the list of those getting revamped in the coming months will be four stores based in Scotland.

They are located in Inverness, Ayr, Cowdenbeath, and Cupar. The budget German supermarket has said that the refresh will see these select stores undergo enhancements that will "enhance

the customer experience." The move comes as part of Aldi's major 2025 expansion plans. There will be 10 new stores opened up over the next 14 weeks at locations including

Newcastle, West Yorkshire, Wales, and more. According to the budget chain, its new store openings will create around 40 new jobs, all with market-leading levels of pay, boosting employment

opportunities within local areas. The firm's long-term plan will see it invest a whopping £650million into expanding its retail footprint this year alone, as it aims to bring its low

prices to even more shoppers by operating 1,500 UK stores overall. Article continues below As of today, Aldi currently operates more than 1,050 stores across the UK, with 109 of them being

based in Scotland alone. Now a popular go-to for many shoppers, especially since the cost of living crisis, Aldi's expansion across the country has seen it become the UK's fourth

largest supermarket, overtaking Morrisons back in 2022. Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: "At Aldi, our goal is to ensure everyone has access

to high-quality food at unbeatable prices, and we’re committed to achieving that with our ambitious store opening plans. "We’re targeting 40 new store openings in 2025, while many of

our current stores will also be getting a refresh to enhance the customer experience, meaning we can consistently offer the best value for money to even more shoppers across the UK."

after the supermarket caused mayhem in UK stores with the launch of its highly coveted Pilates Machine that was initially sold in Australia last year. The viral at-home gym equipment went

available as part of its Specialbuys range for £149.99 on Sunday, May 25, with shoppers queuing from the early hours of the morning in hopes that they would bag one. It was so popular that

Aldi had to issue a ticketing system to meet the high demand, while some shoppers were left fuming after spotting it being sold on Vinted with prices up to a much more expensive £400. FULL
