Nationwide issues clarification on £100 bonus payments for millions of customers

Nationwide Building Society has hinted that millions of its customers could be in line for bonus payments this summer. The building society has previously paid out £100 bonuses to eligible

customers as part of its Fairer Share scheme, with payments typically made in June. However, confirmation of these payments only comes annually, leading to current uncertainty over whether

people will receive cash this year. In a recent update, Nationwide stated it "intends" to make the payment annually, provided it does not result in a financial hit for the building

society. The final decision will likely depend on its full-year results, which were published in May last year, with payments following in June in each of the last two years. READ MORE: DWP

eagerness to make the payments an annual reward for eligible customers, given favourable financial results. Nationwide CEO Debbie Crosbie suggested last November that bonus payments could

return for 2025. One of the previous qualifying criteria has been to ensure accounts have been open and 'active' up to March 31. This includes making payments in shops and ensuring

direct debits are going out. Customers also needed to have a mortgage or savings account with Nationwide, and have at least £100 in savings, or owe at least £100 on a mortgage with

Nationwide, reports Birmingham Live. Over three million customers received the payments last year.
